Rain is Good
Lake Cachuma was as low as 7% full by the end of 2016. That is the price you pay when you live in a desert by the sea. There is a rainy season that lasts from October to April but sometimes Mother Nature forgets to give us any rain. Fortunately, this year we have been blessed with a steady stream of storms which has actually lifted the level of the lake to almost 50% full. That is great news. After last years horrific floods, it has been nice to get rain at a relatively reasonable rate. Sure the freeway was shut down for a day last week due to the storms but nobody was hurt and Caltrans worked hard to get it back open quickly.
We have to be grateful for the rain and take what we can get. What we don’t have to be thankful for though is when the rain ends up someplace you do not want it to be. Like in your house! There are two kinds of rain that come into your house; there is the rain that the wind blows in or that comes through your leaky roof and then there is the rain that likes to rise up off of the ground and come in through your doors or your foundation. For you and me, it is the same water from the same rain but your insurance company may consider them differently so make sure to contact your agent when it comes time for filing a claim.
The good thing is that no matter what your insurance company tells you, SERVPRO of Santa Barbara is available to help you get things dry. Contact us any time at 805-963-0606
